West Oxfordshire District Council have asked Chadlington Parish Council to publicise the following information:
West Oxfordshire Local Plan Housing Consultation (July 2014) and Updated Statement of Community Involvement (July 2014)
The District Council is currently preparing a new Local Plan covering the period 2011 – 2029. As part of this process, public consultation is taking place from Friday 8 August until Friday 19 September 2014. The Council is also consulting on an update to its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) at the same time.
We would welcome your views.
The Local Plan Housing Consultation (July 2014) sets out the Council’s response to the Oxfordshire Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) published in April 2014 and other relevant evidence. It focuses primarily on housing issues including:
- The overall number of homes to be provided (both market and affordable)
- Where these new homes will be built including the overall strategy as well as specific sites
- The type and mix of new homes needed; and
- How the needs of specific groups will be met including older people, families and those wishing to self-build.
The updated Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) will replace the current SCI adopted in 2007 and takes account of changes to national policy, increased use of electronic communication including social media and the duty to co-operate.

Hard copies are available to view at the District Council Offices, Elmfield, Witney, the Council’s Town Centre shop on Welch Way in Witney, in all local libraries, and at local visitor information centres.
Public exhibitions will take place during the consultation period at the following locations/times:
- Monday 1 September 2-7pm Lower Hall, Chipping Norton Town Hall, Market Place, Chipping Norton
- Thursday 4 September 2-7pm Carterton Town Hall, Alvescot Road, Carterton
- Friday 5 September 2-7pm Wesley Room, Methodist Church, High Street, Witney

However, written comments can be sent to the Planning Policy Manager, Planning Policy, Elmfield, New Yatt Road, Witney, OX28 1PB or emailed to planning.policy@westoxon.gov.uk. These will be placed online.
All consultation responses should be submitted no later than 5pm on Friday 19 September 2014.
The responses received will be taken into account by the Council in publishing the final pre-submission draft plan and adopted SCI in autumn 2014.
