How do I get to Chipping Norton?

Most readers will have noted that the main route in to Chipping Norton from Chadlington is currently closed. So if you are going from Chadlington to Chipping Norton, you will need to either travel via Enstone and on to the A44, then in to Chipping Norton on the London Road or take the minor road signposted to Oddington and Cornwell, opposite The Beeches on the A361, and then turn right at the crossroads on the B4450 in to the town.

SGN, who manage the gas network in this area are working on the main road (A361) between Burford and Chipping Norton. The work began on 7 March and lasts for approximately ten weeks. The project is split into two phases

Phase one – approximately two weeks:
During phase one, Burford Road will be closed between its junctions with Albion Street and Walterbush Road.

Phase two – approximately eight weeks:
During phase two, Burford Road will be closed between its junctions with Walterbush Road and Charlbury Road. School buses approaching Chipping Norton School from Charlbury Road’s junction with Burford Road will be given access at the beginning and end of the school day.

Throughout the entire project, The Green will be closed to through traffic with that local access only for residents.

There is a significant signed diversion in place for motorists and HGVs via West Street, A44, A436, A429, A424 and A361.

If you have any questions about this project, please call the Project Manager Bob Taylor at SGN on  07836 364 482 during office hours (8am-4pm), or call our Customer Service team on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.
