Taking action on speeding

Two police officers attended the Parish Council meeting to advise Councillors on what could be done about the high level of speeding through the village, especially on Chipping Norton Road and East End. There is particular concern in Chadlington that speeding near the school and playground poses a danger to children and elsewhere for older people trying to cross the road. Congestion at Harvey’s Corner was also raised as an issue by members of the public present at the meeting.

The Council discussed the possibility of introducing traffic calming measures, despite their high cost. They were also interested to hear about the Community Speedwatch scheme which Thames Valley Police have assisted the Wychwood villages to put in place and has been successful so far in reducing speeding.
