Chadlington is one of the few places in Britain where the wild grape hyacinth (Muscari Neglectum) grows and there are usually some of these plants growing on the Stocks at this time of year. Although not a threatened species (according to the Oxfordshire Flora Group http://www.anhso-ofg.org.uk/ ) it is important that the plants are able to flourish and re-seed every year.

You can do your bit to help protect this plant by noting and reporting when the District Council mows the Stocks. The Council have agreed not to mow the wildflower areas to the sides of the Stocks during certain times of the year to protect the pants, although the main part should be mowed regularly. Parish Councillors would welcome anyone contacting them to report when they have seen mowing taking place, or you can send a message to the website via the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of the page and the Editor will relay your message to the Parish Council.
